Fynbos has a reputation for its delicious country food and farm fresh ingredients.
We use local and seasonal ingredients including, wherever possible, our own vegetables and fruit. Johan is not only the winemaker; he is also a wonderful chef, and together with the team will ensure you don’t leave hungry. We offer a wide range of cooking styles, from Cape Malay to Mediterranean Country food.
Since we enjoy making and serving food that is special to your particular taste, we prefer to discuss your choice of menu and your selection of wines.
Please note that for catered events and residential guests, meals will only be provided to 10 or more guests.
Each season we offer pre-booked country lunches at De Perdestal with its rustic interior and Tuscan style outdoor patio. If you would like to join 'De Perdestal Sunday Lunch Club', subscribe with your email address.
Vegan Food and Wine
One of the specialities of the farm is vegan food and wine. Not only do we arrange vegan events but we are always excited to prepare vegan food for participants of any workshop or event. All our naturally made wines are vegan.
Our wines are made on Fynbos Estate from our own grapes in the old traditional way. This means they are organically farmed and made with minimal interference. They have done well competitively, and can be bought directly from the farm, or delivered to you This is free of charge in the Cape Town area for 6 or more and 50% courier costs for 12 or more elsewhere in the country. Currently we make five reds and three whites, a popular robust dry rosé, one desert wines and a sparkling wine (Méthode Ancestralé). All our wines are vegan.
